Coast: Mountain Trek 15 Days
We trek in the most beautiful coastal area of
the Turkish Mediterranean laying between Marmaris and Antalya.
Know to the ancients as Lycia this fabled coast of clear turquoise
blue water is rich with archeological sites. Fragrant pine forests
tumble down a back cloth of mountain slopes to end abruptly in
red cliffs, secret coves and sandy beaches. We visit splendid
Greco Roman ruins of the Lycian period: Caunos, Letoon, Pinara…
This program give a unique opportunity to experience authentic
Turkish village life, with several night spent in remote mountain
villages , where yous stay as guest. A cruising day to the Kekova
Island, complete your journey before joining Istanbul a city linking
two continents.. With its excellent climate, guaranteed sunshine,
this delightful coastal offers to spend holidays trekking in a
culture-history nature combining area.
ITINERARY 15 Days.
Day 1 : Dalaman
Meet at the airport and transfer to hotel for overnight.
Day 2 : Dalaman
– Ekincik – Dalyan
Drive to Ekincik village and winding through the mountainous
back-country. We see the old Lycian city of Caunos (400BC)
with magnificent rock tombs carved into the rock,our way
through a pine forest to Dalyan. Arrive to the hot spring
by waterway, and opportunity to swim in the arranged natural
hot water swimmingpools. 5 / 6 hours walking. Overnight
in Pension. BLD.
Day 3 : Dalyan
– Kayaköy – Öludeniz
Drive to Fethiye, the ancient Telmossos. Walk up to Kayakoy,
the largest Greekghost town in Asia Minor. This was a prosperous
village from timber export until 1923, date when Greek people
left the area according to the Lausanne populations exchange
treaty. The walk down to Oludeniz, and idyllic sea bay and
a quiet lagoon set against a wild mountain backdrop of dense
forest. Chance to swim. 5 hours trekking time. Overnight
in pension. BLD.

Day 4 : Ölüdeniz
– Pinara
We hike a footpath, through a fragnant pine forest of Mediterranean
coast up to Dokuz Gol plateau (1200m.). We stop en route to enjoy
spectacular views of the snow-covered top of Babadagları (1976m).
Descent to Dip village through a low maquis. Arrive in guesthouse
but first a coffee at the little teahouse just beyond in Minare
village. 6 hours walk. Dinner and overnight in guest hous

Day 5 : Mınare
Izzettın
Sometimes our walks are combined with sightseeing as when
we explore the old ruined city of Pinara – reputedly 1200
rock tombs in various shapes ans sizes. Afternoon trek on
a foothill to İzzettin village, crossing isolated villages
in the forested hills and olive groves. A great sightseeing
on the summit of Akdag ridge (3016m.). 6 hours walk. Dinner
and overnight in Pensıon ın Saklıkent. |
Day 6 : Saklıkent
Bel – Arsaköy
Vısıt Saklıkent gorge, We walk along the rıver and clımb out to
Arsakoy, We mostly follow mule tracks and spend time to isolated
local houses. We can expect to be invited in one of the primitive
houses and be offered some traditional tea as welcome sign. We
visit then the ruined Lycian city of Letoon. Then drive to Arsaköy
village. 5 hours trekking time. Dinner and overnight in village
house. BLD.
Day 7: Mount Akdağ
(3016m):
Early in the morning opportunity to trek to the top of Mount Akdağ
( meaning White Mount. 3016m). As we ascend we can feel the refreshing
mountain air. From the summit a great panoramic view is available
until Antalya. Return back to Arsakoy. 8 hours walking today.
Dinner and overnight in a village house. BLD.
Day 8 : Arsaköy
– Sütlegen
Depart from the Arsaköy village, we follow mountain trail
in the wild scenery, through the cypress forest. En route
we will probably meet some sheherds and get into contact with
them. Arrive in the isolate Sütleğen village. Dinner and overnight
in villager house. 5 hours trekking time. BLD. |

Day 9 : Sütleğen
– Kaş
We trek to Şemsi village. Our drive to Kaş takes us long a rough
road with spectacular views of the area. Arrive to kaş, a lovely
spot surrounded on three sides by forested mountains. Overnight
hotel. 4 hours trekking time.
Day 10 : Kaş – Yaylakuzudere
This will be an opportunity for a half day cruising to Kekova.
Visit of the Simena Castle offering a bird’s aye view of the bays…
Drive to Altınkaya village, Departure point for a 3 hours trekking
to Yaylakuzudere. Overnihgt in Pension. BLD.
Day 11: Yaylakuzudere
– Beycik
Trek in direction of the mount Tahtalı, via the yayla of Düvyeli,
the most beautiful spot on the mountain. Weather permitting, you’ll
have magnificent panoramas west to the Beydagları, e real “ living
map” of Eastern Lycia. Through cedar forest, the trail follows
till the Beycik village, where we spend night in Pension. 6 hours
trekking time. BLD.
Day 12 : Beycik
– Olympos
Trek to Yanartaş (Chimerae): at 250m up a hillside, there is a
perennial naturel flame which has burned since antiquity. Transfer
to Antalya, an attractive city, with shady palm-lined boulevards,
the loveliest marinas in Turkey. Overnight in pension. 3 hours
walking.
Day 13 : Olympos
. adrasan
Transfer to Antalya airport and fly to İstanbul. Know until the
first world war as Constantinople, İstanbul was the capital of
the Byzantine and Ottoman empires. Nearly all the city’s main
sites of historic interest are in old Stamboul. We include a half-day
walking tour of the city, taking in the Blue Mosque, Topkapı places
and the Hippodrome. The covered Bazaar is not far a way and is
well worth to visit. Overnight hotel.
Day 14 : Adrasan
. Antalya
Free day for sightseeing and shopping. Overnight hotel.
Day 15 : Antalya

Trasfert to airport and fly home.
Summit: Mt. Akdağ: (3016m).
